    Facilities & Operations

    Facilities and Operations is responsible for the stewardship of the university’s physical properties. F&O is responsible for sophisticated and complex academic, research and clinical facilities, associated environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.

    Finance

    Finance offers a wide variety of business and financial services to the university community, including accounting, budgeting and recharge reporting, cash management, financial reporting, payroll, procurement, risk management, student financial services, and tax management.

    Office of the Staff Ombuds

    The Staff Ombuds Office offers free and confidential conflict management services to help non-bargained-for UM-Ann Arbor and Michigan Medicine staff resolve issues and promote a civil and positive working environment.

    The Investment Office oversees the Long Term Portfolio of the university’s endowment, developing investment policies, strategic asset allocation, performance benchmarks, and risk management to sustain academic excellence at the university.

    University Human Resources provides comprehensive services to the U-M community that include human resources policy and strategy, competitive benefits, health and well-being initiatives, employment services, information services and professional development.

    The Shared Services Center offers select Finance and Human Resources services to the entire institution in one operation. It provides high-quality customer service as part of an overall strategy to optimize university resources.

    Campus Sustainability leads, facilitates, and supports operational sustainability by working with an array of university units to advance efforts across the Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses.

    The Office of Planning and Strategic Initiatives manages priority initiatives, projects, special operations and programs orchestrated within the purview of B&F. OPSI works to advance enterprise initiatives and operational and programmatic projects, ensuring they align with the mission and strategic direction of the university and its leadership.
